Allen-Smith for Ward 6 Council Member

Greetings!

I would like to invite you to come out May 7, 2007, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., at the Riverdale Park Municipal Center, to vote for your Riverdale Park Council Member representing Ward 6.

As a former Code Enforcement Officer with the town of Riverdale Park, current Code Enforcement Officer with the City of College Park, and resident of Jefferson Hall Apartments, I, Keelah Allen-Smith, will use my professional strengths and abilities to work to create a voice for each and every resident of Ward 6.

Since the resignation of our previous council member, I have constantly expressed great interest in acting as your council member. I have consistently held firm to my belief that together we can make a difference. I am and will remain honest and open regarding my views and actions as your council member. Though I have been a resident of Riverdale Park for only two years, I have made it a priority to try to get to know the residents of Ward 6 -those residing in our single-family homes and our apartment homes and our valued business owners.

Based on my discussions with residents of our ward, I will also work to create an enriching environment for our children, including:
· safe, secure, and friendly recreation areas for our children to play in and enjoy, and
· a better working relationship and partnership with community groups, including Riverdale's Boys & Girl's Club

I will be active in creating:
· cleaner streets and roads on which we walk and drive,
· cleaner apartment homes in which we live,
· well-run schools for our children to be successful, and
· increased effectiveness and efficiency of our current community services and establishing new ones.

My experience with facility inspections and familiarity with specific codes and regulations in the area will allow me to better represent each of you, the people, and the town council. I will make it my duty, in conjunction with the city of Riverdale Park, to respond to and resolve each resident’s complaints to the best of my abilities, in an effort make this a safer neighborhood for us all.

I look forward to working with you to improve our community and make it a model for other communities in Prince George’s County.
